Changes at Island Lake

Gradually our vision for Island Lake Lodge is taking shape. "The Rock" as we have named a unique barbeque area, overlooking the lake is finished. This is where cabin five used to be. A barbeque grate has been built into the old chimney. The area has been grassed over and a couple of picnic tables added. It sits a top a large outcropping rock and gives an excellent view of the lake. The lodge has been renamed the "Beaver Lodge" and is still under renovation and should be finished this summer. The design will include a large central kitchen,

four bedrooms, recreation room, and bathroom. A deck will span the length of the building on the lake side. Our plans include solar power a backup electrical generator and propane for the cook stove. The inside will be finished in tongue and groove pine.

Safety

Maintaining a safe operation is a priority for Rainbow Airways. Part of our safety program includes passenger safety awareness. In the interest of safety. we ask our customers to carefully listen to the pilot’s Passenger Safety Briefing prior to each flight. Upon boarding please read the Passenger Briefing Card. Transport Canada's brochure entitled a “Passengers Guide" is available in our office and should be read. Both the Passengers Guide and the Passenger Briefing Card can be viewed on our web site.

Make Your Own Maps

The Ministry of Natural Resources in Ontario has  an excellent web site. This site includes a map making section. Maps can be tailor made for your fishing trips etc. I have included a link to this site on our we

2010 First Flight 2010

Our DeHavilland Beaver  C-FOCB (Old Charlie Brown) is going back in the water by late April. The first flight is planned for May 1st. I'm counting the days! The first flight of the season is always exhilarating, a renewal. I love this work, amidst the lakes and forest. I enjoy sharing the mystique of each Beaver Flight with my friends; the fishermen, cottagers, sightseers, and all.  The Intrepid Beaver, "Work Horse of the North" is truly a great aircraft
