Back Lakes Fishing

Did you know that Island Lake is surrounded by remote Back Lakes where the fishing is second to none? These lakes are accessible from Island Lake by portage or fly in. At Island Lake the Bass fishing just doesn’t get any better. You can stay in your comfortable cabin at Island Lake. Fish there a few days and then head off to a Back Lake for a days adventure coming back to your cabin a cold beer and barbeque. 

New Boating Regulations

As of Sept 15 2009 The Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations require operators of pleasure craft fitted with a motor and used for recreational purposes to have proof of competency on board at all times.

Proof of competency can take one of three forms:

1.  A pleasure craft Operator card.

2.  Proof of having successfully   completed a boating safety course in Canada prior to April 1^st. 1999

3.  A completed rental boat safety checklist

To obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator Card. You can find study material at: www.shop.tc.gc.ca  and order publication # TP511 “A Safe Boating Guide”. The exam can be completed at www.boaterexam.com  and of course there’s a fee.

Cell Phones, iphones, Computers

This January I tested the Bell/ Telus HSP A +network network signal at Rainbows office. Using a telus mini modem (stick) plugged into a USB Port on my laptop. I had good high Speed reception including audio and video. At the same time I checked the reception on my Rogers iphone I couldn't even make a cell phone call. During the summer of 2009 I checked my  i phone in the various lakes of our area. I had reception maybe 25% of the time. At the same time a cell phone with Telus always had good reception.
